With the sea moving in so many directions in this view it was an interesting challenge to really capture the ebb and flow of water. The scene is one from Kalk Bay Station, Cape Town, South Africa. Oil paints on silver panel. Imbued with the fluidity of oil, I crafted this seascape where impressionistic fervor meets realism’s embrace. The waves, alive with motion, whisper tales of the deep as they dance towards the shore, a symphony of nature’s tranquil might and beauty. Varnished and in a frame restored and adapted to suite the painting. It will radiate serene dynamism into your living space, echoing the timeless call of the ocean’s shimmering tides.

In crafting this oil painting, I merged impressionistic touches with a realist approach to capture the vitality of the sea. The movement of the waves holds a personal meaning, symbolizing life’s ebb and flow. My brushstrokes aimed to create a sensory experience, where viewers can almost hear the ocean’s roar and feel its mist. The majesty of wind-blown waves at sunset. After a visit by the artist to the sea he grew up with. A soul-awakening sea that speaks for itself and we can only listen.
