Shaun Herron is a Cape Town raised artist and designer who has been residing in Europe since the late 1980’s.
"My first 21 years were gratefullly spent in the Southern Cape of South Africa
where I completed my schooling, active military service (in The Kalahari and Namibia) and studies in Art and Design.
I then moved to Britain where I worked as a Designer, then Studio Manager
and eventually Creative Director for design studios and various periodicals in London.
Wary of the advertising and media world, I packed my bags and surfboard and travelled the world for a year or four.
Only once resorting to design skills for a short spell as a Freelancer in Melbourne, Australia.
Along the way, many sketch books were filled and much of my present inspiration is still drawn from the cultures that I encountered,
Yet the colour in my work is definitely still influenced by a vivid African initiation to art.
During an intended 'brief' visit to The Netherlands in 1993, I was encouraged by some friends to sell some paintings.
Opportunities and parenthood locked me into Amsterdam where I continue to do a variety of work in a range of génre." SH 2014
To date he has primarily exhibited impressionist landscape paintings in galleries,
while dabbling in many other creative pursuits and taking on a wide variety of artistic commissions.
Diversity in his own work includes a surrealistic esoteric approach and looser abstract oil paintings
complimented by more hand-drawn book projects and shared inspiration illustration and decor art collaborations.
From 2013 to 2016 he completed a book of pencilled nudes called FROM HERrON - Limited edition signed copies are available.
He has also illustrated and researched a book on Life thanks to water called PRECIOUS (see Illustration) for 12 years. It has not been published.
Occasinally he works on a historical graphic novel called "The Age of Treason' together with James Fitzpatrick and Marc Bergveldt.
Another collaboration being a T-shirt label carrying his own designs named Mental Peace that enjoyed
20 years of festival tours around Europe and international success within it’s target group.
